CHALLENGE T0 CHANGE

Motivational speaker Zig Ziglar tells us we must “have a checkup from the neck up” to get rid of any and all vile and detrimental thinking (or as Zig coins it “Stinkin’ Thinkin’”) that would derail our ambition and motives in reaching the top of our Success Ladder.
The mindset we possess when entering the world of Network Marketing is very indicative of how successful we will be as a network marketer.

Since most of us have been educated in the American Educational System during the Industrial Age, we have probably been instructed on how to become great employees once we graduate from high school or college. THAT particular mindset can hinder us when stepping into the ownership of our very own business!
To understand the difference between the mindset of working for ourselves and the mindset of working for someone else, note the following contrasting thought patterns.
Dr.Tom Barrett, (www.daretodream.net) a past Congressional and corporate consultant with two masters degrees and a Ph.D in psychology and a veteran entrepreneur himself, explains the difference between the Entrepreneurial Mindset and the Bureaucratic Mindset in his book “Dare to Dream and Work to Win.”
The Entrepreneurial Mindset is free to set their own schedule, work the hours they predetermine and know that if they work hard and smart, network marketing does pay off big time over the long haul. They get paid according to how much effort they apply and how much they help other people succeed.

On the other hand, the Bureaucratic Mindset is accustomed to predictable income. They know how many sick days they have, know when pay day is, know what they get paid per hour, and they get paid so much per paycheck. Overtime brings in exactly so much more. All predictable. And systematic.
To the Entrepreneurial Mind, it is understood that in the early years of free enterprise, one must work hard to create depth in his or her group to develop a reliable team.
They realize it does TAKE TIME and PATIENCE to see the necessary growth in their team to bring in the BIG checks. Residual income comes in long term faithfulness and consistency. Delayed Gratification.
The Bureaucratic person only knows linear income. If he works so many hours, he gets paid so much money at the next paycheck. Instant Gratification, so to speak.

Entrepreneurs have unusual VISION. They are capable of seeing trends, markets, niches, and have future Dreams and Hopes. On the other hand, the Bureaucrat thinks network marketing is too risky.
He can’t get excited about the potential of residual income. That is too far down the road. He lacks the courage and faith to step into the unseen future.
The Entrepreneur is excited to associate with fellow visionaries. Whenever or wherever there is a meeting, conference, he or she will be there to give or get encouragement and share accomplishments.
To the Bureaucrat, attending these affairs is a “waste of time.” He or she cannot see the “big picture” of how personal growth and development blossom through exchange of ideas and testimonials.
Dr. Barrett contrasts the Entrepreneurial Mindset with the Bureaucratic Mindset further by explaining that Entrepreneurs live in a “resource state” while Bureaucrats live in a “problem state.”
In their “resource state,” Entrepreneurs anticipate the future with confidence, believe problems can and will be solved, see challenges as manageable and can be overcome.
From the “problem state,” Bureaucrats anticipate the future with dread, don’t believe problems can be solved, and see challenges as unmanageable and overwhelming.
The Entrepreneurial Mindset sees life as good, although at times it can be difficult. They see possibilities everywhere; they enjoy life!

On the other hand, the Bureaucratic Mindset thinks life is hard and good moments are exceptional. They see problems everywhere, and they only “endure” life.
The mindset in the “resource state” expects to thrive in the game of life, while the “problem state" only expects to survive in the game of life. The “resource state” mindset sees themselves in control of circumstances in life, while the “problem state” mindset sees themselves as victims in the game of life.
The Entrepreneurial Mindset is steady, consistent and has a real drive to succeed and doesn't allow setbacks to detain them. The Bureaucratic Mindset, however, gets easily discouraged and gives up rather early and quickly.
